1.History: Originally founded as the “News Material Room” on 3F of the SinWun Building in 1962, this premise was in charge of collecting and providing materials for teachers and students in the Department of Journalism and was the only one in Taiwan that is devoted to journalism.With its independent building and extent to a respectable size , this premise was kept when the NCCU Library was completed in 1977, and staff was managed by Main Library.In 1990 the College of Communication was opened, and the “News Material Room” of SinWun Building was renamed to the “Library of SinWun Building” and relocated to the 3F of college of Communication, taking up 363 square meters of floor space. It was then renamed to the “Library of College of Communication” in 1993.
2.Features: Since it was founded in 1962, the premise has decades worth of collections related to mass communication and is very popular among non-NCCU visitors. This Library has a large and reputable collection of periodicals in Western languages and these on journalism. All works produced by student of the College of Communication (including the Graduate Institute of Journalism, Department of Radio & Television, and the Department of Advertising) have been collected by the Library and can be check out (only to those with the Permit).
